Organisation position and purpose:
The successful candidate will join the Avian Oncogenic viruses group at Pirbright and report to the Head of the group. The purpose of this position is to recruit a Post-doctoral Research Scientist with experience in gene editing to carry out investigations into the molecular mechanism of ALV induced oncogenesis to meet the objectives of the two and a half year’s BBSRC-Newton Fund project in collaboration with a number of Chinese Institutes/Universities. The post holder will use state-of-the-art molecular biological tools to explore the role of myc in ALV-transformed cell lines derived from haematopoietic tumours.
The successful candidate will be required to manage the research objectives, work independently and liaise with all members of the team. The post-holder will become a pivotal member of the team and will support the group and department by delivering excellent high-impact research. The post-holder will perform key research, administrative and management duties and report directly to the group leader. The post-holder will also be expected to help maintain and strengthen the Group’s collaborative links with other research groups both nationally and internationally.

The group of Sara Wickström is looking for ERC-Funded Post-doctoral Researchers in Stem Cell Research for 2 years fixed term (with 6 month trial period) starting from 1.8.2018 with possibility of extension up to 4 years.
The successful candidate will join a young and dynamic research team in the analysis of stem cell regulation in tissue morphogenesis, maintenance and cancer. We employ a wide range of techniques, including mouse genetics, cell biology, live cell imaging, mass spectrometry and single cell sequencing to study how stem cell and cancer stem cell fate is regulated through interactions with their niche.
The applicant is required to hold PhD in biology, genetics, bioengineering, biochemistry, or a related field, as well as strong written and oral communication skills. The working language is of the lab is English; knowledge of the Finnish language is not necessary. Experience in cell biology is required, experience in computational data analysis and next generation sequencing is an advantage.

The Department of Pharmacology-Physiology of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at the Université de Sherbrooke seeks to consolidate the department’s expertise in pharmacology with a new line of research on cannabinoids and their medical applications. The Department invites applicants to fill a tenure-track Assistant Professor position linked to a private-funded research chair.
Overview
The Department has a long standing, world-class history of GPCR research applied to cardiovascular diseases and neuroscience. We are now seeking individuals with innovative research programs in the pharmacology of cannabinoids applied to neuroscience, cardiovascular diseases, or other physiological systems to complement/consolidate the current themes of the Department. In particular, we encourage applications from individuals with experimental expertise in the following fields: structural biology, cell signaling, in vitro and in vivo pharmacology, and medicinal chemistry. The successful candidate will be expected to establish and maintain an active, externally funded independent research program and to obtain salary support (scholarship) from external sources (ex. FRQS).
Qualifications
Candidates should have a PhD or MD/PhD degree, a minimum of three years of postdoctoral studies, an outstanding publication record and a competitive research program within the identified fields.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate is expected to maintain an active research program, teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels in pharmacology, physiology as well as in the medical student curriculum, and participate in the training of graduate students (MSc, PhD, PDF). The recipient is expected to develop strong leadership within the growing field of medical cannabis. Knowledge of the French language, or commitment to learn the language in the short term, is essential.
Working environment
The Department of Pharmacology-Physiology has 18 tenured/tenure-eligible faculty and offers a BSc in pharmacology as well as MSc and PhD degrees in pharmacology or in physiology. Most members of the department have their lab space in the Institute of Pharmacology. The Institute is equipped with the most recent technologies and was just awarded a 6.8M$ infrastructure grant to update its medicinal chemistry, biochemical, biophotonic, microscopy, mass spectrometry, and behavioral platforms. The Institute of Pharmacology provides access to cutting edge scientific equipment facilities and a strong interdisciplinary research environment with a major focus on neuroscience, cardiovascular and cancer research as well as biomedical technologies. Marc G. Caron’s Lab
Our laboratory studies the G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) that regulate brain dopamine signaling important to common neurological disorders such as depression, schizophrenia, Parkinson’s disease, and drug abuse. The research utilizes cutting-edge biochemical, pharmacological, molecular-genetic, and behavioral approaches.
The applicant will participate in investigations whose scope includes the following two related areas:
(1) Determining how GPCRs like dopamine receptors maintain neurotransmitter homeostasis in the brain to control specific behaviors. This will be examined in animal models utilizing genetically modified mice.
(2) Investigating the concept of GPCR biased signaling or functional selectivity as it relates to the therapeutics of neurological disease. This translational line of investigation will provide proof-of-concepts studies for developing pathway selective agents with better pharmacologic profiles and fewer side effects. A successful applicant will be exposed to these and other ongoing related research topics in the process of maintaining his/her own independent research project. Our laboratory will also provide a wealth of biochemical, pharmacological, and/or physiological expertise to facilitate both your research and career development. A recent Ph.D. degree in biological sciences (or equivalent) is required. Candidates should have experience and or interest in neurobiology, pharmacology, receptor biology, signal transduction, or animal models of behavior.

Postdoctoral Position Available to Investigate Alternatives to Prescription Opioids and novel cell biological underpinnings of opioid tolerance
A postdoctoral position is available in the lab of Dr. Gintzler at SUNY Downstate Medical Center, located in Brooklyn, NYC. Research in the Gintzler lab is directed at identifying mechanisms that modulate endogenous opioid antinociception, key molecular components of which could serve as targets for stimulating endogenous opioid analgesia, eliminating or reducing the need for exogenous opioids. A parallel line of research investigates cell biological underpinnings of analgesic tolerance and opioid-induced hyperalgesia following chronic exposure to opioids. The successful candidate would be exposed to an interdisciplinary research approach that utilizes cell lines maintained in culture, ex vivo as well as in vivo CNS preparations, immunohistochemistry and behavioral analysis.
