University Lecturer Terhi Heino is looking for a postdoctoral level researcher to join her research group. Preferred starting date is 1.10.2023 or as agreed. The position is fixed-term until 30.9.2025 but may continue later.
Heino research group studies cell-biomaterial interactions with a focus on bone and vasculature formation and regeneration. The aim is to investigate novel biomaterials and to examine their possibilities in regenerative medicine. The Postdoctoral Researcher position is related to a project, in which novel cellulose-based materials are being designed and developed and their applicability in bone repair is being studied. In the project, we utilize experimental cell and tissue culture models and modern cell and molecular biology techniques. The research group is located at the Integrative Physiology and Pharmacology Research Unit, Institute of Biomedicine, Faculty of Medicine, University of Turku.
Essential Qualifications
- A PhD degree in a relevant field (e.g. cell biology, biomedicine, biochemistry, molecular biology)
- High level of motivation, capacity to take initiative and independent approach to research
- Excellent skills in cell and tissue cultures, experience in cell and molecular biology techniques

Salary

Research Director Petra Sipilä is looking for a motivated and talented doctoral researcher to join her team to investigate how transcription factors, epigenetic modifications and metabolic enzymes interact with androgen receptor to regulate androgen response in the epididymis. Furthermore, we are interested in how those interactions affect epididymal sperm maturation and thus male fertility. In the project, we are using experimental animal studies and state-of art genome wide omics methods such as ChIP-seq, to solve the research questions.
The selected person is expected to start on 1.10.2023 or as agreed. The position is fixed-term until 30.9.2027.
The research group is working at the Institute of Biomedicine, Research Centre for Integrative Physiology and Pharmacology. The Institute of Biomedicine has strong expertise in mouse models and pre-clinical research, and it recognizes endocrine and reproductive medicine as main research fields. Requirements

Academy Research Fellow Saara Hämälistö is looking for a Doctoral Researcher to join her research group. The position is fixed-term until 31.8.2025. Preferable starting is 09/2023, but it is negotiable.
The research group studies the lysosome and extracellular vesicle (EV) function in B cell lymphomas. B cells are known for their crucial role in production of antibodies against pathogens; however, they play other critical roles in e.g. tumorigenesis and in autoimmune disorders. The research group aims to characterize the features of pathogenic B cell vesicles in terms of their activation mechanisms and intercellular communication. The research utilizes state-of-the-art techniques e.g. high-resolution fluorescence and electron microscopy and three-dimensional cell culture models. The group is located at the Medisiina D (University of Turku) and FICAN West Cancer Centre.
Qualifications
The applicant must have a higher university degree (e.g. Master’s degree) in cell biology, biomedical imaging, biomedicine, or biochemistry or other equivalent field. The candidate should be highly motivated to aim at PhD, have good communication skills and be self-initiative. Fluency in English is a requirement. The work will include cell culture, bioimaging, quantitative image analysis, molecular biology and flow cytometry. We are seeking an enthusiastic, highly motivated, well-organized and detail oriented postdoctoral researcher to study the resistance mechanisms to immunotherapy in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) patients. The project is funded by the Academy of Finland. The selected applicant will have a contract with the University of Helsinki, however she/he will also need to be able to work in a newly established group at the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Eastern Finland, Kuopio campus.
HNSCC represents a highly aggressive solid tumor, with a 5-year mortality rate of ~50%. Despite the emergence of targeted- and immunotherapies, the long-term prognosis of HNSCC patients remains poor. This project aims to improve patients´ responses to immunotherapy by revealing the resistance mechanisms to immunotherapy, identifying better treatment targets and predictive biomarkers, and introducing a personalized approach to test immunotherapeutics.

Luonnonvarakeskus (Luke) hakee kasvigenetiikka ja -genomiikka -ryhmään erikoistutkijaa vakinaiseen työsuhteeseen. Ryhmän tavoitteena on löytää asiakkaillemme genomiikkaan perustuvia ratkaisuja kestävän elintarviketuotannon edistämiseksi sekä maailmanlaajuisen ruoka- ja ravitsemusturvan parantamiseksi. Valittavan erikoistutkijan tehtäviin kuuluu työskennellä kasvigenetiikan tutkimusprojekteissa ja toimia kasvigenetiikan ja kasvinjalostuksen asiantuntijana. Muita tehtäviä ovat rahoitushakemusten valmistelu ja tutkimustulosten julkaiseminen vertaisarvioiduissa julkaisusarjoissa. Henkilön odotetaan toimivan tiiviissä yhteistyössä muiden tutkijoiden, asiantuntijoiden ja keskeisten sidosryhmien kanssa sekä kansallisesti että kansainvälisesti.

Hakijalta odotamme
Tehtävään valittavalla henkilöllä tulee olla tohtorin tutkinto genetiikassa, genomiikassa, kasvifysiologiassa tai vastaavassa ja vahva ymmärrys kasvinjalostuksesta, peltokasvien tuotannosta sekä ruoantuotantojärjestelmästä. Kokemus boreaalisen vyöhykkeen kasvintuotannosta katsotaan eduksi. Vaatimuksena on molekyyligenetiikan, genomiikan, bioinformatiikan ja molekulaarisen jalostusteknologian osaaminen. Taito soveltaa tilastotieteen menetelmiä genomiseen dataan katsotaan eduksi.
Henkilön tulee osoittaa aiempi tutkimus- ja julkaisutyö sekä menestys tutkimusrahoituksen hankinnassa. Henkilöltä vaaditaan erinomainen suullinen ja kirjallinen englannin kielen taito sekä hyvät yhteistyö- ja viestintätaidot. Erityisesti taito työskennellä laajoissa monitieteellisissä tutkimushankkeissa on tärkeää ja näytöt kansainvälisestä tieteellisestä työskentelystä ovat eduksi.
Palkkaukseen liittyvät tiedot
Tehtävä sijoittuu Luonnonvarakeskuksen palkkausjärjestelmän vaativuustasolle 10, jossa tehtäväkohtainen palkanosa on 4286,11 euroa kuukaudessa. Tehtäväkohtaisen palkanosan lisäksi maksetaan henkilökohtaiseen suoritukseen perustuva palkanosa, joka voi olla enintään 50 % tehtäväkohtaisesta palkanosasta. Uuden työntekijän henkilökohtainen palkanosa on osaamisesta ja kokemuksesta riippuen tyypillisesti 15-20 %. Hakija voi esittää myös oman palkkatoivomuksensa.

We are searching for a highly motivated and dedicated doctoral researcher to contribute to a pivotal project funded by the Academy of Finland. This study aims to elucidate the molecular mechanisms of acidocalcisome proteins responsible for phosphate regulation in protozoan parasites. We aim to assess these proteins’ potential as drug design targets through detailed structural and functional studies. Our successful candidate will employ state-of-the-art techniques such as x-ray cryo-EM and x-ray crystallography to probe the structure of acidocalcisome proteins and carry out biophysical and both in vitro and in vivo functional studies. Your work could significantly advance scientific understanding and contribute to the development of novel treatments for parasitic diseases like sleeping sickness and leishmaniasis.
Role Requirements
- A Master’s degree or equivalent (e.g., licentiate), or imminent completion of such, preferably in life science, biochemistry, molecular and structural biology, or a related field.
- Strong scientific curiosity, meticulous work ethic, and excellent time management.
- Experience in basic lab techniques, including cloning, protein expression, and protein characterization.
- Prior experience with protein structure determination via x-ray diffraction and/or cryo-EM, cell biology (especially Leishmania or Trypanosoma ), and/or biophysical techniques will be considered beneficial.
- Excellent communication skills in spoken and written English.
- The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Roosa Laitinen´ s research group utilizes both global and local accessions of Arabidopsis thaliana to understand the mechanisms of plant adaptation and evolution. We are seeking a postdoctoral researcher to work on a project investigating the genetic factors underlying mechanisms of temperature-mediated plasticity in flowers in A. thaliana . Haemme nyt Oulun yliopiston Kajaanin yliopistokeskukseen, Mittaustekniikan yksikköön
Laboranttia
määräaikaiseen työsuhteeseen 30.9.2024 asti.
Oulun yliopiston ja Kajaanin yliopistokeskuksen mittaustekniikan yksikössä (MITY) työskentelee n. 40 mittaustekniikan ja analytiikan ammattilaista. Yksikön tavoitteena on mittaustekniikkaan liittyvän teknologian kehittäminen ja tähän liittyy palvelujen tarjoaminen yrityksille, tutkimuslaitoksille ja muille organisaatioille yhteisrahoitteisissa hankkeissa ja yksittäisinä toimeksiantoina. Tutkimus- ja kehitystyön painopistealueet ovat soveltava mittaustekniikka (analytiikka, optiikka, spektroskopia, sähkökemia), bioanalytiikka ja näissä erityisesti Cleantech, biotalous- ja terveys- ja hyvinvointisovellutukset. Yksikössä on oma teknisen tuen henkilöstö ja välineistö pilottilaitteistojen toteuttamiseen ja testaamiseen.

Mitä etsimme?
Haemme joukkoomme laboranttia. Onnistuaksesi ja viihtyäksesi tehtävässä odotamme sinulta:
– alalle soveltuvaa koulutusta

Lisäksi katsomme eduksi:
– aiempi kokemus HPLC-analytiikasta ja/tai kapillaarielektroforeesianalytiikasta
– mikrobiologian perusmenetelmien tuntemus
– aiempi kokemus PCR-teknologiasta ja/tai soluviljelystä
– kokemus työskentelystä mikrobiologisessa ja biokemiallisessa laboratoriossa
Lopullinen tehtävänkuvasi muotoutuu osaamisesi ja mielenkiintosi mukaan.
Tehtävän palkkaus
Tehtävä on määräaikainen 1.9.2023 alkaen (tai sopimuksen mukaan) ja päättyy 30.9.2024.
Tehtävä sijoittuu yliopiston palkkausjärjestelmän muun asiantuntija- ja tukihenkilöstön vaativuustasolle 4. Lisäksi maksetaan henkilökohtaiseen suoriutumiseen perustuvaa palkanosaa, joka on enintään 50 % tehtäväkohtaisesta palkanosasta. Palkka vastaavissa tehtävissä on tyypillisesti 2200-2400 EUR/kk. Tehtävässä sovelletaan 6 kuukauden koeaikaa.

Tehtävänkuvaus
Regulatory Consultant -roolissa autat Biosafen asiakkaita ympäri maailmaa saamaan heidän elintarviketuotteensa EU:n markkinoille. Mikrobiologian, bioteknologian tai vastaavan koulutuksen asiantuntijuutta vaativassa tehtävässä toimit asiakaslähtöisenä konsulttina. Neuvot asiakkaita uusien mikrobiperäisten elintarviketuote-innovaatioiden turvallisuusarvioinnissa. Työtehtäväsi muotoutuu myyntilupahakemuksien edistämisen ympärille.
Työtehtävät:
- Tiedon etsiminen, viranomaisohjeistuksien sekä lainsäädännön selvitys
- Tekstin tuottaminen raportointimuotoon asiakkaalle
- Dokumenttien valmistelu sekä lupahakemusten lähetys
- Asiakasprojektien koordinointi

Etsimme
