Haemme asiantuntijatiimiimme sairaalamikrobiologia NordLab Oulun kliinisen laboratorioon.

Sairaalamikrobiologi vastaa vastuuyksikkönsä menetelmien toiminnasta ja niiden kehittämisestä, laadunvarmistuksesta, ohjeistuksesta sekä dokumentaatiosta. Sairaalamikrobiologin toimenkuvaan kuuluu mikrobiologian analytiikan koordinointi ja kehittäminen yhteistyössä NordLabin mikrobiologian osaamisalueen työryhmän kanssa, teknisanalyyttiset tehtävät, laatutehtävät sekä asiakasyhteistyö.

Tehtävän menestyksellinen hoitaminen edellyttää monipuolista osaamista kliinisestä mikrobiologiasta ja kykyä itsenäiseen työskentelyyn. Terveydenhuollon laboratorioissa saavutetun kokemuksen lisäksi arvostamme osoitettua kiinnostusta tieteelliseen tutkimukseen, moniammatillista työotetta sekä hyviä vuorovaikutus- ja yhteistyötaitoja.

The post:
The post holder will use the latest genomic technologies to fully understand how genetic variability at the APOE locus contributes to Alzheimer’s disease.
This position will involve full responsibility in:
sample collection,
assurance that informed consent from participants and ethical approval are obtained,
genetic assays design,
development of sequencing and other genetic analyses, and
write up of the results obtained.
 
The post holder will ensure that the study will be developed, completed and delivered in line with the agreed targets, following research best practices.
 
The Applicant:
Highly motivated applicants must have a PhD in a relevant subject area, and experience in human genetics.
 
Also essential:
– experience in next generation sequencing protocols and data analyses,
– strong problem solving abilities,
understanding of research methodologies,
– commitment to meeting scientific objectives within agreed timelines,
experience in molecular biology and proficiency in statistics and coding (R, Python) are also desirable.

PhD student position at the Department of Biosciences
 
PhD student position is available at the Laboratory of Neurotherapeutics located at the Department of Biosciences, Division of Physiology and Neuroscience, University of Helsinki. The research group investigates the underlying neurobiological mechanisms and predictive (bio)markers of rapid-acting antidepressants using in vivo pharmacological tools, biological screenings (e.g. quantitative phosphoproteomics), pharmaco-EEG (electroencephalogram) and behavioural tests.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated person with a M.Sci. degree in neuroscience, pharmacology or molecular neurobiology. The candidate must be able to perform basic neurobiological, pharmacological (
in vivo) and behavioral methods and animal surgeries. Previous experience with in vivo EEG recordings, animal behavior, and curriculum of education in laboratory animal science are considered very beneficial. The successful candidate should also have strong communication skills in English and be well organized. Salary will be based on the University salary system for teaching and research personnel, and composed of both task related and personal performance components. The position will start as soon as possible

A graduate student position in the Immunoregulation group, BioMediTech, University of Tampere, Finland. 

We are looking for a new member to join our team that investigates how the Proprotein Convertase (PCSK) enzymes regulate the immune system (see for example; Nature. 2008 Sep 11;455(7210):246-50., J Immunol. 2014 Dec 1;193(11):5470-9., J Leukoc Biol. 2015 Jul;98(1):73-83.). We are hoping to recruit a person that is self-motivated, curious and interested in the mechanisms of immunity. Previous experience with cell culture, FACS and in vivo models is advantageous. Postdoctoral Position in clinical MEG of Parkinson’s disease: Aarhus, Denmark

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral scientist post to support research into neurocognitive deficits in Parkinson’s disease (PD) at the Center of Functionally Integrative Neuroscience (CFIN), Department of Clinical Medicine at Aarhus University.

The successful applicant will work on a research project funded by the Danish Council for Independent Research, exploring the neurophysiological mechanisms of language deficits in PD patients using MEG and other techniques, and carrying out specific scientific research in collaboration with line manager and other team members. The postholder’s research will be centred on exploring functional deficits in speech and language processing in PD patients with and without deep brain stimulation implants. Ideal candidates will therefore have experience in clinical neuroimaging and in language research. Previous experience in using one or more of state-of-the-art neuroimaging modalities (MEG , EEG,  etc) is essential; experience with neurological patients is desirable. Eligible candidates should hold a PhD or similar degree in a relevant discipline, including (but not limited to) physiology, medicine, psychology, neuroinformatics or neuroscience. The position is to be filled as soon as possible and is open for up to 3 years within the funding period allowed.

CFIN is an international multidisciplinary research centre based at Aarhus University’s Department for Clinical Medicine, Denmark. Our research groups are supported by state-of-the-art cognitive neuroscience facilities including research-only 306-channel TRIUX MEG system (Elekta Neuromag), fMRI systems (Siemens TIMTrio 3T, Magnetom Skyra 3T), PET, navigated TMS, EEG, eye-tracking equipment, Two-Photon Microscopy, etc., and have well-established clinical and other collaborations.
