12.2.2018 | Ajankohtaista
Faculty Position in Pharmacogenetics / Pharmacogenomics of Alcohol and Substance Use Disorders
University of Kentucky
College of Pharmacy

Assistant/Associate/Full Professor, 12-months, Regular Title Series
The College of Pharmacy at the University of Kentucky invites applications for a qualified pharmacogenetic / pharmacogenomic scientist at the rank of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor to coordinate and integrate research in the area of alcohol and substance use disorders (ASUD). The institution has identified faculty recruitment priorities that reflect health care disparities in the state of Kentucky particularly alcohol and substance use disorders.  Other health care disparities that disproportionately affect the citizens of Kentucky include cancer, obesity, and cardiovascular disease.  The College has a long history of excellence in basic, clinical and applied sciences research across its departments of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Pharmacy Practice and Science. These efforts span the translational research continuum, focusing on health issues that impact patients at the local and national level.  The College is one of six colleges within the academic medical center of the University with many opportunities for interdisciplinary collaborative research.  The University boasts three renowned research centers with specific focus in the ASUDs. The College seeks to grow the research enterprise by strategically investing in the ASUD focus area.
Previous work has established that ASUDs are highly heritable, developmental disorders, and genes and gene variants have been identified that may impact fundamental biological mechanisms underpinning these disorders.  We seek to establish an open rank position focused on the genomics/genetics/epigenetics of ASUD to support collaborative, unifying research that integrates into practice-based research ultimately improving human health by predicting risk, developmental progression, persistence, cessation, and relapse, as well as tailoring effective therapeutics using genomic approaches.
Qualified candidates will have a PhD, MD, or PharmD in a related field; a developing or sustained record of using genomic methods designed to achieve the overall objectives in the prevention and treatment of ASUDa developing or sustained record of scholarly achievement as appropriate based on rank; and a strong track record of acquiring extramural research funding or potential to acquire extramural funding as appropriate based on rank.  Additional requirements include excellent interpersonal skills; excellent oral and written communication skills; strength in team building; a commitment to development of and scholarly participation in genomic research programs at the College of Pharmacy and the University of Kentucky, and a collaborative orientation toward University, community and state activities that enhance the health of the citizens of Kentucky.

Solu- ja kudosteknologian gradupaikka tarjolla Tampereella

7.2.2018 | Ajankohtaista

Tampereella BioMediTech-instituutissa Aikuisen kantasolujen tutkimusryhmässä on solu-ja kudosteknologian alan gradupaikka tarjolla opintojen loppumetreillä olevalle opiskelijalle. Aikuisen kantasolujen tutkimusryhmä tutkii muun muassa mesenkymaalisten kantasolujen käyttöä luun kudosteknologisissa sovelluksissa. http://www.biomeditech.fi/research/adult-stem-cell-group/

Kyseisessä graduprojektissa tutkitaan rasvan kantasolujen luuerilaistuksen taustalla olevia molekulaarisia mekanismeja geeni-ja proteiinitasolla. Projektissa kasvatetaan ja erilaistetaan kantasoluja ja selvitetään erilaistumiselle keskeisiä signalointireittejä. Näiden mekanismien ymmärtäminen on edellytys kudosteknologisten menetelmien kehitykselle tulevaisuudessa. Projekti koostuu 5-6 kk kestävästä kokeellisesta osuudesta ja 2-3kk kirjallisen raportin (Pro Gradu-tutkielma) laatimisesta (Pro Gradu tutkielman laajuutta, 40 op, vastaava työpanos).

Työn aloitusaika on joustava.
