Kaksi tutkijatohtoria/yliopistotutkijaa, biolääketiede, Itä-Suomen yliopisto (Kuopion kampus)

Itä-Suomen yliopisto on yksi Suomen suurimmista monialaisista tiedeyliopistoista. Tarjoamme opetusta lähes sadassa pääaineessa. Opiskelijoita on noin 15 500 ja työllistämme 2 600 henkilöä. Toimimme 1.8.2018 alkaen kahdella kampuksella Joensuussa ja Kuopiossa. Kansainvälisissä yliopistojen vertailuissa sijoitumme maailman parhaiden joukkoon.

Terveystieteiden tiedekunta toimii Itä-Suomen yliopiston Kuopion kampuksella. Tiedekunnassa koulutetaan lääkäreitä, hammaslääkäreitä, ravitsemusterapeutteja, farmaseutteja ja proviisoreja sekä muita keskeisiä asiantuntijoita terveydenhuollon eri aloille.  Tiedekunta on hyvin tutkimusintensiivinen. Kansainvälisesti korkeatasoinen ja monitieteinen tutkimus kytkeytyy vahvasti yliopiston strategiassa tunnistettuihin tutkimusalueisiin. Haettavana on

2 tutkijatohtorin/yliopistotutkijan tehtävää (biolääketiede), lääketieteen laitos, biolääketieteen yksikkö, Kuopion kampus (vakanssit 30928 ja 31102)

Lääketieteen laitoksen Biolääketieteen yksikössä (www.uef.fi/biolaaketiede) on haettavana kaksi tutkimuspainotteista työtehtävää. Haettavana olevat tehtävät täytetään joko biolääketieteen tutkijatohtorin tai yliopistotutkijan tehtävinä. Tutkijatohtorin tehtävä on 3-vuotinen. Yliopistotutkijan tehtävä täytetään 4-vuotiskaudeksi.

Biolääketieteen yksikössä tehtävä tutkimus vaihtelee väestöaineistoihin perustuvista interventio- ja seurantatutkimuksista perustutkimukseen ja painottuu merkittävien kansansairauksien, kuten Alzheimerin taudin, syövän sekä kardiovaskulaaristen ja metabolisten sairauksien, molekyylitason mekanismeihin, patofysiologiaan, ehkäisyyn, diagnostiikkaan ja hoitoon. Tutkijatohtorin palvelussuhteeseen valittavan tulee olla soveltuvan tohtorin tutkinnon suorittanut. Tutkijatohtorin tehtävään otetaan aina määräajaksi (johtosääntö 31 §).

Tutkijatohtorilta edellytetään tohtorin tutkinto, joka on suoritettu enintään 5 vuotta ennen tutkijatohtorin tehtävän vastaanottamista. Aikaraja tarkoittaa tässä yhteydessä nettoaikaa, johon ei lasketa esim. äitiys- tai vanhempainlomaa tai asevelvollisuuden suorittamista.

Yliopistotutkijan palvelussuhteeseen valittavan tulee olla soveltuvan tohtorin tutkinnon suorittanut ja hänellä tulee olla hyvä opetustaito. Yliopistotutkijan tehtävään voidaan ottaa toistaiseksi tai määräajaksi (johtosääntö 31 §).

Tehtävään vaadittavasta kielitaidosta on säädetty valtioneuvoston asetuksella 770/2009. Yliopiston opetus- ja tutkimustehtävää hoitavalta vaaditaan, että hän hallitsee sen kielen, suomen tai ruotsin, jolla hänen on annettava opetusta. Tiedekunnan dekaani voi myöntää erivapauden yliopistoasetuksen kielitaitovaatimuksiin. 

Biolääketieteen tutkijatohtorin tai yliopistotutkijan tehtävässä toimivan tutkimusprofiilin ja osaamisen tulee tukea ja kytkeytyä yksikössämme tehtävään tutkimukseen. Tutkijatohtorin tehtävässä tutkimustyötä tehdään Biolääketieteen yksikössä toimivan tutkimusryhmän jäsenenä. Vastaavasti yliopistotutkija voi valmiuksistaan riippuen toimia tutkimusryhmän vetäjänä tai yksikössä jo toimivan tutkimusryhmän senioritutkijana. Tutkimustyön lisäksi tehtävään valittava osallistuu kandidaatti- ja maisterivaiheen ihmisen biologian ja biolääketieteen alan opetukseen ja opinnäytetöiden ohjaukseen asiantuntijuutensa ja osaamisprofiilinsa mukaisesti.

Hakijoiden tutkimusansioita arvioitaessa huomioidaan oman alansa asiantuntijuus, tieteelliset julkaisut, hankittu tutkimusrahoitus sekä opinnäytetöiden ohjaus. Lisäksi opetusansioissa huomioidaan opetuskokemus sekä pedagoginen koulutus.

Tutkijatohtorin tehtävä täytetään ajalle 1.8.2018 – 31.7.2021 ja yliopistotutkijan tehtävä täytetään ajalle 1.8.2018 – 31.7.2022. Määräaikaisuuden perusteena on määräaikainen opetus- ja tutkimustehtävä.

Tutkijatohtorin tehtävän palkkaus määräytyy yliopistojen opetus- ja tutkimushenkilöstön palkkausjärjestelmän mukaisesti vaativuustasolle 5 (2 865,30 €/kk) ja yliopistotutkijan tehtävän palkkaus vaativuustasoille 6-7 (3 340,77 – 3 851,33 €/kk). Tehtäväkohtaisen palkanosan lisäksi maksetaan henkilökohtaiseen suoriutumiseen perustuvaa palkanosaa, joka on enintään 46,3 % tehtäväkohtaisesta palkanosasta.

Laboratory technician in the structural biology program for protein crystallography core facility operation for a fixed-term, from March 1st,2018 to December 31st,2018 or as agreed.
Can be part time, if so agreed.

Tasks involve maintenance of the facility chemicals stocks and ordering of reagents, day-to-day running of instruments, including execution the full array of services the platform has to offer – mainly setting up of protein crystallization plates using the automation pipeline with pipetting robots and software (Hamilton Star and TTP Labtech Mosquito) and the imaging of the crystallization plates with the imaging system (Rigaku Minstrel). The technician also takes care of book keeping and billing.

We are looking for an applicant with preferably a laboratory engineer or laboratory technician training, engineering or M.Sc. degree or equivalent experience preferred, with +3 years of experience of laboratory work.

Requirements:
-Knowledge of basic laboratory techniques (preparing buffers and pipetting, molecular biology)
-Good communication skills and knowledge of English
-Ability to keep things in good order and good working routines
-Basic knowledge of MS office software (Word, Excel), experience with some laboratory software
-Willingness and interest towards use of automation and basic software needed in operation
-Experience in protein sample characterization.

Knowledge and experience with laboratory automation, additional computer software skills and basic web page maintenance are considered an asset.

The salary is based on the demand level 6-7 of the salary system of the Finnish Universities for other staff. In addition, the appointee will be paid a salary component based on personal work performance. A trial period of 4 months will be applied.

Job description

The position involves interpretation and reporting of findings from our clinical molecular genetic tests, including panel-based tests, targeted family member tests and others. Qualifications

Education:

  • Clinical Laboratory Geneticist degree; or
  • Board certification in Clinical Molecular Genetics / Laboratory Genetics and Genomics; or
  • Ph.D. in Genetics.

Experience and skills:

  • Experience in interpreting and reporting genetic test results in a clinical setting utilizing NGS, Sanger sequencing and other methods.
  • Knowledge of current genomic information and variant databases is essential.
  • Experience in working under certified and accredited quality management systems is an asset.
  • Fluent skills in oral and written English are a necessity.

A staff scientist position is available at the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), Lyon, France. IARC offers unique opportunities to study the burden, causes and prevention of cancer worldwide. The institute specializes in the integration of laboratory and population-based sciences and in coordinating and conducting multi-center studies.
 
The staff scientist (P2 level) will be responsible for the development, design, and conduct of research projects in cancer epigenetics (please see the link for the advert in Naturejobs –www.nature.com/naturejobs/science/jobs/636461-scientist-epigenetics). The studies are aimed at testing hypothesis on the role of early molecular events (epigenetic driver genes, “epidrivers”) and deregulated pathways involved in tumour initiation and progression, which should advance our knowledge of mechanisms of cancer development. This will involve the development and application of in vitro models and state-of-the-art approaches, (epi)genome editing (such as CRISPR/Cas9 technology), genome-wide shRNA library knockdown screens, multi-parametric cell phenotyping and functional (epi)genomics. The incumbent will also be responsible for supervision of early career scientists (post-doctoral fellows and PhD students) and technical assistants.

The Department of Anesthesiology and Washington University Pain Center seeks an Postdoctoral Research Fellow for a trained electrophysiologist with additional experience in  behavioral pharmacology and imaging to study mechanisms underlying opioid dependence.  We are interested in studying these mechanisms within the reward pathway, so previous experience studying this circuit is required. The laboratory integrates the study of the molecular changes induced by drugs of abuse using a combination of state-of-art  electrophysiological, imaging, behavioral, optogenetics and chemogenetic  analyses.

Candidates must have a PhD in neuroscience, biochemistry, pharmacology or biomedical sciences. The Kanninen research group funded by the Academy of Finland is seeking a motivated and experienced postdoctoral researcher to join a highly dynamic group of researchers working on multiple aspects of neurodegeneration. The group utilizes both murine and human in vitro cultures of brain cells and mouse models of disease to investigate molecular and cellular mechanisms of neurodegeneration. The group is particularly interested in mitochondrial dysfunction in Alzheimer’s disease and the impact of environment and life style factors on brain health. The candidate should have a PhD in Neuroscience or related discipline with experience in in vitro culture of neurons and/or glia. Candidates with experience in culture of stem cells are highly encouraged to apply. In addition, experience with calcium imaging, epigenetic techniques and in vivo experimentation are considered an advantage. Experience in routine biochemical assays and immunocytochemistry are expected.
The successful candidate will be committed and motivated, display independent thinking skills, and possess the ability to work independently while supervising students. A person to be appointed as a postdoctoral researcher shall hold a suitable doctoral degree. Positions of postdoctoral researchers shall always be filled for a fixed term (UEF University Regulations, Section 31).

The person to be appointed to the Postdoctoral Researcher Position is required to hold a doctoral degree, which may not have been completed more than five years ago at the time of accepting the position. In this context, the 5 years refer to a net period of time, which does not include maternity leaves, parental leaves, or military service, etc.
The position is filled for one year starting from 19.3.2018 or as agreed. The position is filled for a fixed term due to the duration of the project.

The salary of the position is determined in accordance with the salary system of Finnish universities and is based on level 5 of the job requirement level chart for teaching and research staff (€2,865.30/ month). In addition to the job requirement component, the salary includes a personal performance component, which may be a maximum of 46.3% of the job requirement component.
