Kuopio Center for Gene and Cell Therapy (KCT) is a modern research institute located in Kuopio, Finland. Our mission is to conduct high-level research on basic and translational fields of gene- and cell therapy. The centre’s niche is in the interface between academic, basic research and the commercial biotechnology industry. KCT provides an exciting environment for applied research and discovery, developing therapeutic products through Phase I clinical trials and utilizing some of the most advanced analytical and mechanistic proof-of-principle approaches in the sector. Opportunities for two highly motivated Senior Scientists have now opened at the KCT Immunotherapy Program to work in projects that revolve around cancer and immune cell genetic engineering. Both projects are already active in KCT and involve clinicians, academic teams and international collaborators.
Project 1. In this project, the successful candidate will be developing T and NK based cell therapy products for ovarian and brain cancers. Lentivirus technology and CRIPR-Cas will be utilized in genetic engineering of the cells for cancer targeting and improved performance in solid cancer treatments. The candidate will closely work together with KCT team developing clinical grade cell therapy product processes. KCT research team has already established in vitro and in vivo methods to further characterize and functionally test the developed products.
Project 2. In this project, the successful candidate will participate in establishing 3-D cultures and characterization of ovarian and brain tumors. Cell culture, immunological and molecular methods are extensively utilized. The candidate will also participate in single-cell sequencing and proteomics characterizations involving collaborative laboratories specialist in these techniques. The candidate will work together with KCT research team with extensive knowledge in cell biology, immunology and bioinformatics.
The successful candidates will be responsible for designing, implementing and overseeing the project. These duties will involve practical laboratory technologies, and therefore strong wet lab background is essential. This person will work closely together with internal project teams and external collaborators and therefore have excellent communication skills in English.
Education:
The successful applicant should hold or be about to obtain a PhD in a relevant field, such as cell biology, immunology, immuno-oncology or cancer biology.
Skills and experience in the following areas is highly desirable:
Project management
Strong overall wet lab experience
Cell biology methods, like primary cell isolation, 3D organoid culture, functional assays
Multicolor flow cytometry – panel design and data analysis
Gene editing technologies and advanced molecular methods

Haemme biologia (FM/FT) tai vastaavaa Veripalvelun tutkimus ja tuotekehitys -osastolle biopankkitoimintaan asiantuntijatehtävään. Tehtävä on määräaikainen 31.12.2020 asti.
Tehtävä
Veripalvelussa toimii kaksi biopankkia: Hematologinen biopankki, jonka omistavat Helsingin yliopisto, Suomen hematologiyhdistys ja Veripalvelu, sekä Veripalvelun Biopankki, joka rekrytoi verenluovuttajia. Tehtävä
Osallistut soluterapiaan ja uusiin soluvalmisteisiin liittyvän tutkimus- ja kehitystyön suunnitteluun, ohjaukseen ja toteutukseen. Osallistut tarvittavan dokumentaation valmisteluun viranomaiselle soluvalmisteiden toimilupa-asioissa. Tehtävänäsi on kehittää, validoida, raportoida ja ohjeistaa sovitusti uusia tuotanto-, laadunvalvonta- ja tutkimusmenetelmiä huomioiden voimassa olevat ohjeet ja viranomais-määräykset. Työskentelet mm. CART-soluvalmisteiden tuotekehitysprojekteissa yhdessä Veripalvelun yhteistyökumppaneiden kanssa.
Vastaat osaltasi siitä, että vastuualueesi toiminnot täyttävät Veripalvelun toimintajärjestelmän ja laboratorion laadunhallinnan sekä lain ja valvovien viranomaisten asettamat vaatimukset.

Soluviljely on sinulle tuttua ja hallitset solujen karakterisointimenetelmiä. Soluterapiavalmisteisiin liittyvien viranomaisvaatimuksien (esim. GXP ja GMO) tuntemus ja kokemus soluterapiassa käytettävien virusvektoreiden kanssa työskentelystä katsotaan eduksi. The research project is a part of the Biology and Physics of Pain in
Knee Osteoarthritis (BP-PAIN) Consortium that aims to study in detail
the biophysical and biological correlates of pain and dysfunction in
osteoarthritis. The project employs multi-disciplinary approaches
including cell cultures, high-content cellular imaging and metabolomics,
as well as gene expression studies, medical imaging and
neurophysiological analyses.
We are seeking a highly motivated
candidate with experience in cell cultures, biochemical analyses,
molecular biology and data processing. The position aims at the PhD
student completing a PhD degree within four years and enables the PhD
student to take part in supervising MSc students, scientific writing,
grant applications, scientific collaborations and teaching in suitable
areas. Good communication and writing skills in English are required.
A person to be appointed as an
early stage researcher shall be qualified to pursue postgraduate
studies, i.e. he or she is required to have completed a suitable higher

The
successful candidates will be responsible for designing, implementing
and overseeing the project. These duties will involve practical
laboratory technologies, and therefore strong wet lab background is
essential. This person will work closely together with internal project
teams and external collaborators and therefore have excellent
communication skills in English.
Education:
The
successful applicant should hold or be about to obtain a PhD in a
relevant field, such as cell biology, immunology, immuno-oncology or
cancer biology.
Skills and experience in the following areas is highly desirable:
Project management
Strong overall wet lab experience
Cell biology methods, like primary cell isolation, 3D organoid culture, functional assays
Multicolor flow cytometry – panel design and data analysis
Gene editing technologies and advanced molecular methods
Setting up and developing functional assays and analytical methods
Furthermore,
extensive understanding of such or related concepts as the human immune
system activation and regulation or cancer immunosurveillance and
cancer therapy is considered beneficial
Excellent teamwork and communication skills in English are essential

Institutionen för cell- och molekylärbiologi (ICM) (http://www.icm.uu.se)
är en av de mest internationella, interdisciplinära och framstående
forskningsinstitutionerna inom molekylär biovetenskap i Europa.
Forskningsområden vid institutionen spänner från genetik till biofysik.
Den utlysta anställningen är placerad vid programmet för strukturbiologi (http://www.icm.uu.se/strukturbiologi).
Forskningen vid programmet är inriktad på att med hjälp av struktur-
och funktionsstudier få djup mekanistisk insikt i biologiska processer.
Vi studerar idag ett brett spektrum av centrala biologiska processer
alltifrån proteinevolution, proteinsyntes, och proteinveckning och
assembly, till metallhomeostas, enzymkatalys och antibiotikaresistens.
Vi söker nu en universitetslektor som kan komplettera och bredda både
kompetens och forskningsinriktning vid programmet.
Beskrivning av ämnesområdet: Ämnesområdet är biologiska makromolekylers struktur och funktion.
Arbetsuppgifter:
Undervisning, forskning och administration inom experimentell
strukturbiologi. Undervisning på grundläggande och avancerad nivå inom
cell- och molekylärbiologi med huvudsaklig inriktning mot
strukturbiologi. Till undervisning räknas kursansvar och
kursadministration samt handledning av mastersstudenter och doktorander.
I arbetsuppgifterna ingår att vid behov utföra administrativa
arbetsuppgifter relevanta för institution och fakultet. Det ingår även
att följa utvecklingen inom det egna ämnesområdet och
samhällsutvecklingen i övrigt som har betydelse för arbetet vid
universitetet. I arbetsuppgifterna ingår även att leda utveckling och
översyn av den planerade lokala kryo-EM faciliteten och därmed
sammanhängande informations- och utbildningsaktiviteter.
Behörighetskrav:
Behörig att anställas som universitetslektor är enligt
högskoleförordningen den som dels visat pedagogisk skicklighet och dels
har avlagt doktorsexamen eller har motsvarande vetenskapliga kompetens
eller har någon annan yrkesskicklighet. Det krävs att den pedagogiska
skickligheten, den vetenskapliga kompetensen och yrkesskickligheten är
relevant för anställningens ämnesinnehåll och de arbetsuppgifter som ska
ingå i anställningen.
Enligt Uppsala universitets
anställningsordning gäller som behörighetskrav för anställning som
universitetslektor att ha genomgått för verksamhet inom universitetet
relevant pedagogisk utbildning, omfattande tio veckor, eller förvärvat
motsvarande kunskaper. Om det föreligger särskilda skäl kan den
högskolepedagogiska utbildningen genomföras under de första två
anställningsåren. Enligt Uppsala universitets anställningsordning gäller
vidare som allmänt behörighetskrav för lärare att ha de personliga
egenskaper som krävs för att fullgöra anställningen väl.
Den
sökande ska ha dokumenterad förmåga att undervisa på svenska och/eller
engelska om inte särskilda skäl föreligger. Innehavaren förväntas kunna
undervisa på svenska inom två år.
Den som erbjuds en anställning
som universitetslektor kan befordras till professor om den sökande har
begärt det, är behörig för en sådan anställning och dessutom bedömts
lämplig utifrån de specifika kriterier som fastställts av
fakultetsnämnden.
Bedömningsgrunder
Vetenskaplig och pedagogisk skicklighet:
Vid urval bland behöriga sökande kommer vikt att fästas främst vid
såväl vetenskaplig som pedagogisk skicklighet varvid särskild vikt
kommer att fästas vid den vetenskapliga skickligheten. Vetenskaplig
skicklighet avser forskningsmeritering, även forskningsmeritering från
arbetslivet, som inbegriper till exempel teknikutveckling och
innovationsförmåga. Vid bedömning av den vetenskapliga skickligheten
kommer särskild vikt att läggas vid erfarenhet av strukturbestämning med
högupplöst elektronmikroskopi.
Vid bedömning av den
vetenskapliga skickligheten kommer i första hand vetenskaplig kvalitet
att beaktas. Även forskningens omfattning, främst djup och bredd, kommer
att tillmätas betydelse. Förmåga att planera, initiera, leda och
utveckla forskning och utbildning på forskarnivå, förmåga att i
konkurrens erhålla medel för forskning, liksom visad förmåga till
interaktion både inomvetenskapligt och med det omgivande samhället
kommer också att tillmätas betydelse.
Lika stor omsorg kommer att
ägnas prövningen av den pedagogiska skickligheten som den vetenskapliga
skickligheten. Pedagogisk skicklighet avser utbildnings- och
undervisningsmeritering. Den pedagogiska skickligheten kan ha uppnåtts i
yrkeslivet genom handledning, internutbildning, mentorsprogram etc.
Vid
bedömning av den pedagogiska skickligheten kommer i första hand
pedagogisk kvalitet att beaktas. Även omfattning, såväl bredd som djup,
kommer att tillmätas betydelse. Vidare kommer förmåga att planera,
initiera, leda och utveckla utbildning och undervisning, liksom förmåga
att forskningsanknyta undervisningen sett utifrån forskning i det
aktuella ämnet, ämnesdidaktik och högskolepedagogik att tillmätas
betydelse. Även förmåga till interaktion om högskolepedagogiska frågor
med aktörer inom och utom universitetet ingår i den pedagogiska
skickligheten. Vid bedömning av den pedagogiska skickligheten kommer
särskild vikt att läggas vid pedagogiska meriter inom ämnesområdena
cellbiologi, molekylärbiologi, biokemi och strukturbiologi.
Samtliga meriter ska vara dokumenterade så att både kvalitet och omfattning kan bedömas.
Universitetet
kommer i denna rekrytering främst att beakta den som efter en

bästa förutsättningarna att genomföra och utveckla aktuella
arbetsuppgifter samt bidra till en positiv utveckling av verksamheten.
