Lääketieteen ja terveysteknologian tiedekunnassa on haettavana väitöskirjatutkijan tehtävä. Tehtävä liittyy Prof. Vesa Hytösen johtaman tutkimusryhmän hankkeeseen, jossa kehitetään työkaluja solunsisäisen mekanosignaloinnin tutkimiseen. Tutkimusta rahoittaa Suomen Akatemia ja Sigrid Juséliuksen säätiö.

Tehtävänkuvaus 

Mekaaniset signaalit ohjaavat keskeisiä biologisia ilmiöitä kuten solujen liikkumista, jakautumista ja erilaistumista. Tunnemme huonosti tekijöitä, jotka välittävät mekaanisia viestejä molekyylitasolla. Hytösen johtama ryhmä etsii väitöskirjatutkijaa hankkeeseen, joka tähtää uusien molekylaaristen työkalujen kehittämiseen solujen mekanosignaloinnin ymmärtämiseksi. Hankkeesen palkattava tutkija kehittää proteiineihin pohjautuvia mekanosensoreita, jotka mahdollistavat solun sisäisten mekaanisten viestien mittaamisen. Tutkimuksessa hyödynnetään rakennebiologian ja biokemian menetelmiä solutason ilmiöiden tutkimiseen. 

Väitöskirjatutkijan tehtävänä on suorittaa tohtorin tutkinto Tampereen yliopistossa. Tutkinnon tavoiteaika on 4 vuotta. 

Edellytykset

Tehtävään valittavalta odotetaan kriittistä ajattelua ja kykyä oppia uusia menetelmiä ja teorioita. Hakijan tulee olla kiinnostunut proteiinien rakenteen ja toiminnan välisestä yhteydestä. Tehtävään valittavalta edellytetään soveltuvaa maisteri/DI-tutkintoa (esim. solu/molekyylibiologia, rakennebiologia, bioinformatiikka, biofysiikka).

Kokemus molekyylibiologian ja biokemian menetelmistä sekä solunviljelystä luetaan ansioiksi. Hakijan kiinnostus molekyylimallintamiseen nähdään hyödyllisenä, mutta ei välttämättömänä. Vahvalla hakijalla on kokemusta työskentelystä tutkimuslaboratoriossa. Myös näiden aihepiirien ulkopuolella oleva kokemus huomioidaan – olennaista on se, että hakijalla on kiinnostus biologisia ilmiöitä kohtaan.  

Väitöskirjatutkijalla on oltava tai hänen tulee hakea oikeutta suorittaa tohtorintutkinto Tampereen yliopistossa. Tutustuthan erikseen ohjeisiin, miten haetaan tohtorikoulutukseen.

Tarjoamme 

Väitöskirjatutkijan määräaikainen tehtävä kestää noin 4 vuotta. Työ alkaa tammikuussa 2021 tai sopimuksen mukaan. Tehtävässä on 6 kk koeaika. 

Tehtävän palkkaus määräytyy yliopistojen opetus- ja tutkimushenkilöstön palkkausjärjestelmän mukaisesti. Tehtävän alustava vaativuustaso on 2-4. Lisäksi maksetaan henkilökohtaiseen työstä suoriutumiseen perustuvaa palkanosaa.

Tutkimusryhmä tarjoaa hakijalle vahvan tuen ja ryhmässä on hyvä yhteishenki. Hytösen johtama ryhmä tutkii proteiinien rakenteellista dynamiikkaa, solujen mekanobiologiaa, biofunktionalisoituja materiaaleja ja rokotteita. Monitieteinen tutkimusryhmä tarjoaa hyvät lähtökohdat nuorelle tutkijalle, joka haluaa kokemusta erilaisista menetelmistä. Hankkeessa on mahdollisuus järjestää tutkimusvierailuja kansainvälisen yhteistyöverkostomme laboratorioihin.

Job description

Hytönen group is seeking for highly qualified PhD candidate for a project that aims for the development of novel molecular tools to gain insight into molecular events in cellular mechanosignaling. The candidate will develop protein-encoded mechanosensors, which enable analyzing intracellular mechanical signals. The research exploits structural biology and biochemistry to understand events taking place in cellular level.  

Successful candidates will pursue a doctoral degree at Tampere University. Full-time doctoral studies are expected to be completed in four years.

Requirements

Successful candidate is expected to excel at critical thinking, be quick learner for new methods and approaches, and to have an interest towards protein structure-function. Candidates should have a MSc degree in suitable field of science (cell/molecular biology, structural biology, bioinformatics, biophysics), high motivation, and good communication and teamwork skills. 

Experience in molecular biology, biochemistry and cell culturing are considered as advantage and interest towards molecular models is considered beneficial. Ideal candidate should have good bench research training. To be a successful in vivo Research Assistant, ideally you should have the following educational and professional work experiences:

• A suitable degree such as biotechnology engineer, medical laboratory technologist, biomedical laboratory scientist or laboratory technician or in related discpline.
• Basic knowledge on pharmacology as well as practical experience on experimental pharmaceutical research.
• Qualification for carrying out procedures on animals is mandatory.
• Concrete hands-on experience working within an animal laboratory facility.
• Strong in vivo research experience especially using mouse syngeneic and xenograft tumor models.
• Technical competence that includes rodent handling, injections (IV, IP, SC, and PO), palpation, bleeding, tissue harvest and ex vivo analysis methods.

• Excellent attention to details with strong communication skills.

R&D Scientist, Bioinformatics position reporting to the R&D Supervisor, Molecular Food Protection. The jobholder is working in one of the molecular food protection R&D teams with up to 5 other Scientists/Lab technicians on the development, optimization and verification of NGS based methods for the speciation of meat, fish and plant species, and the detection and characterization of foodborne pathogens.

Key responsibilities:

Essential tasks, responsibilities and authorizations

• Sustaining Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) process and mapping out and applying methods to support NGS product development and implementing the new methods and applications
• Supporting, developing and identifying improvements to assays for species identification
• Following advancements in the field of sequencing and communicating these to the team
• Developing assays and methods for bacterial identification
• Evaluating project risks and providing formal risk assessment reviews
• Development of new products based on Real Time PCR and NGS to complement the current product range
• Executing analyses for assay development (sequence similarity analysis, inclusivity/exclusivity analyses) and oligo design

Tohtorikoulutettava koirien epilepsiatutkimukseen liittyvään projektiin Eläinlääketieteelliseen tiedekuntaan (Epilepsian diagnostiset ja prognostiset biomarkkerit)

TOHTORIKOULUTETTAVAA

määräaikaiseen työsuhteeseen alkaen 4.1.2021 tai sopimuksen mukaan 2 vuodeksi (jatkorahoitusta haetaan hankkeen kuluessa).

Tehtävä sijoittuu kliinisen hevos- ja pieneläinlääketieteen osastolle Suomen Akatemian rahoittamaan tutkimushankkeeseen, jossa tutkitaan koiran spontaanin epilepsiamallin avulla epilepsian prognostisia ja diagnostisia biomarkkereita. Tutkimus keskittyy erityisesti solunulkoisten vesikkelien analysointiin epilepsiaa sairastavilla koirilla.

Tohtorikoulutettavan tehtävänä on väitöskirjatyön tekeminen kuvatussa hankkeessa ja tohtorin tutkinnon suorittaminen. Tohtorikoulutettavan työnkuva sisältää monipuolisesti erilaisia tehtäviä, kuten avustusta tutkimukseen osallistuvien koirien kliinisissä tutkimuksissa ja näytteiden keräämisessä, solunulkoisten vesikkeleiden eristämistä ja karakterisointia sekä bioinformatiikka-analyysiä proteomiikkadatasta. Tohtorikoulutettavan tehtäviä voidaan painottaa hakijan osaamisen ja kiinnostuksen mukaan. Opetustehtäviä on enintään 5 % vuosittaisesta työajasta.

Tehtävä edellyttää:

We are looking for a Process Development Manager to strengthen our MSAT Team. MSAT stands for Manufacturing, Science and Technology.

Suitable candidate has experience in managing people and preferably, has knowledge or experience in Process Development and Process Scale-up in biotech industry manufacturing setting. You would be developing process understanding and expertise as well as providing scientific support on manufacturing processes together with our great scientist team. This role includes establishing priorities, monitoring the progress of all assigned projects, allocating resources, and ensuring that projects meet milestones and deadlines for new product development projects.

It is an advantage if you already have some experience in biotech industry in process development, process scale up, tech transfer or manufacturing. Furthermore, you can have experience in GMP-work, or knowledge of quality systems.

Ideal candidate will be a SME in all aspects of commercial manufacture i.e. chemistry, process development, process management and troubleshooting, process scale-up, process robustness improvement, tech transfer and manufacturing support.
